ITP rims and tires cheap...no such thing...

Postby rangertom » Tue Oct 04, 2005 6:03 am

Hey,

Rockymountainatv.com sells 12x7 ITP delta (black) for 44.95, Maxxis Bighorns for 64.95 (frt), 67.95 (rr) 25". Just in case no one knew...

Also, I wanted to ask a question here, since MANY of you have these rims, how much do they gain in width all the way around on the ATV?

Thanks and I hope this helps ease some pain for someone,

Got all the measurements. It's just great that I left the paper on the work bench. I'll get it tonight after work.

Here we go.
*Note this is bead to bead not the total out side of the rims.

Stock rear 3" out from mounting surface (hub)
Stock rear 6" in from mounting surface
ITP Delta steel 3" out from mounting surface
ITP Delta steel 4" in from mounting surface

Stock front 2" out from mounting surface
Stock front 4 1/2 " in from mounting surface
ITP Delta steel 3" out from mounting surface
ITP Delta steel 4" in from mounting surface

ITP Mudlites XL 26X12X12 is 11" wide
ITP Mudlite XL 26X9X12 is 9" wide
Stock XTR rear 25X11X12 is 10 1/4" wide
Stock XTR front 25X8X12 is 7 1/2" wide
Your front will be 2" total wider
Your rear will be 3/4" total wider * if you go for these tires

i.e. front 7"rim - 9" tire wide = 2" split for both sides = 1"
i.e. rear 7' rim - 11" tire wide = 4" split for both sides = 2" but the stock rear rims and tires 10 1/4" so you will gain 3/8" on each side.
I hear tails that a 10" front tire on ITP steel will rib on tie rod ends.
Hope this helps.

If you don't know what you are doing you just fill the report with data...
And it looks great.

Ya need a fricken supercomputer just to determine the difference between stock and ITP rims.... That's sick.

The center steel not the rim is a little bit thiner on the stock rims.
ITP and stock rim materal seems to be the same thickness.
Polaris has that extra roll over lip that makes one would think that it would be stronger.
The problem with the stock front rims is the inset is 4 1/2", so if you go with a wider front tire you run the risk of rubbing on the tie rod ends.
I have banged my stock rims quite hard and seem to be a bit stronger due to the fact the rim bead did not bend in. I have hit my ITP's and had to have the tire removed and beat the bead back into shape.

ITP does state stronger than stock steel rims, but they don't say witch brand of stock rim they are stronger than.

My stock rims took a hell of a harder beating than my ITP rims... If I had a choice, I'd go with the stock rims with the ITP tires.

I would too, but with the deep inset on the front you would have to go with 8" wide tires

Or spend $200 bucks on spacers, ala Steve.
