Broke Exhaust
Cruising around on the Sportsman 800 today and all of a sudden it sounds like my engine is going to explode!
It turns out the exhaust pipe broke off right behind where your right leg is while riding!
It cracked, and tore off all the way around. This area is about 1/4" from what appears to be a weld so it probably was a fatigued area.
I`m going to see how Polaris handles this as I believe I have an extended warranty with a very low deductible.
Or it may just be after market time

Re: Broke Exhaust
If you have a warranty, it will probably be covered.
My 2005 did the same thing.....The new pipe is 2 pieces with a joint, right where the break is....
Also...GET A SPRING PULLER! you will suffer without it.

Re: Broke Exhaust
Sorry for the newbie question but why do I need a spring puller for working on the exhaust?Ken wrote:If you have a warranty, it will probably be covered.

Re: Broke Exhaust
Just look at it. Several springs hold it in place.

Re: Broke Exhaust
My extended warranty covers 0 to do with exhaust, and muffler. Even though Polaris came out with an updated part to prevent this from happening in the future
Part: $160
Labor: $60
The good news....
My ball joints, and tie rod ends are 100% covered under warranty. Which is odd since they are items not normally covered under auto warranties.
$220 + a few bucks for cotter pins for repaired exhaust, ball joints, and tie rod ends turns out to be not so bad after all =D>
