Nice find. Where did you hear about it. The price of diesel is crazy these days. I think a gasser is a good choice if you're not pulling anything real heavy for a long time. My 2001 dodge diesel only gets around 12-13 mpg when I'm pulling my bronco. With the .30-.50 cent premium they're charging per gallon of diesel, it adds up fast.

Where are you buying gas??
It's 20 cents more for Diesel.....
Lets do the math.
Gas 20 cents less
Gas truck - 9MPG going up Hill
Diesel - 22 MPG.
50 gallons of Diesel = 1,100miles
50 gallons of Gas = 450 miles
Cost of Diesel: $135
Cost of Gas: $292 to go 1,100 miles
Oh...that was at 30 cent difference...
So that 30 cent "savings" really cost you 160 bucks!
Oh...and I get 9MPG empty...nothing in it.
And that's why, I'll NEVER buy another gas truck....

Hell...my 9,000 lb Hummer gets 15 MPG with Diesel compared to my Hemi at 11MPG around town.
My gas truck costs me $5,000 in gas.
A Diesel going the same distance costs: $2,454
Sorry..I'll pay the 30 cents.

lol.... I agree.
But the cheapest 3/4 ton Chevy duramax diesel with the Allison tranny was 42k to 46k without tax and license. That was my compromise....
When I win the lotto I'll buy the Diesel I swear.... lol.

AAHH gotta love the old 6.5L chevy..Not a lot of power but good fuel mileage... All the NEW diesels i have seen are not to easy on the fuel mileage when towing... My boss has a 05 furd and he's getting 12 on a good day 9 in town... Duramax is a little better but with the 06 360hp and 650tq your fuel milage is going to blow!!! Chevy did add a 6th gear to the Dura 1600rpm at 65 mph BUT you can't use that while towing.... I own a Little gas motor and a big trailer Make my buddys (With the Diesels) tow and use my trailer...lol

I was just explaining how much more expensive gas was to operate overall for me.
I'll have my Hemi probably 1 more year....then it's gone. I have to spend about 55K on Lexus in the next couple weeks....so a truck is out of the picture in 2005. I got a 7 year bumper to bumper, so I want to sell it while it still has warranty.
I paid 28K for my truck....and yeah..a new Chevy Duramax/Alllison is mid 40's.

No problem.... I totally agree with you. Just trying to save money...I'm not ragging on you.

But this 8.1 ltr has some power. I can break the tires loose shifting and it's an automatic....

Damm, I guess them new Hemi engines are thirsty. I don't even think the v10s are that bad. All my buddies with the Chevys are getting great mileage with their gas engines. A lot better than my Cummins. "Diesel = 22mpg" I could only dream of this. I'm not even close to that. Though, a lot of out of state diesels are. 18 mpg is the best I've ever seen.
