Trip to Meadow Lake

Trip to Meadow Lake
Started out a ride near Lindsey Lakes on Bowman Rd. I've never ridden up the short road to Lower Lindsey and Carr lakes. There are no bad views!
These critters actually came out when I stopped at the above view. They ain't afraid of no Grizzly!
I ended up at Meadow Lake.
I like the logging technique here, it's impressive to see the height of these trees, with a younger forest of 6-10 ft trees growing below it.
Out at the end of the road that runs above the eastern shore of the lake, and a short walk, is this magnificent tree:
Wow, the Forest Service has seen fit to save it. The plate has a distinctly 70's flavor to it. Kinda funny with every square inch of logging around the area...
Over near Hartley Butte is the wreckage of a miner's cabin.
It sits on a lovely little pond. I could have spent the day here.
I saw more wildlife on this ride than I've seen on a single ride before. Tons of squirrels and chipmunks of course, but also quail, grouse, a pika or woodchuck and some deer. All from the seat of the ATV no less.
A nice ride, hope I can be on part of the Miyagi ride in that area - but not the dusty one, the rocky ones are better...

Despite the sour warnings about the water reserves in the reservoirs, it's still a nice late spring up there at 7,000 feet. Those later snow storms and late spring rains produced great conditions this summer. There are still a lot of flowers, tons of green and with the valley heat over the weekend, it actually got a little chilly riding at times.
Another nice ride in this area, with a gorgeous lake at the end, is Lake Faucherie, a side trip from the Jackson Creek Campground intersection.
