That's why the Rim fire won't be fully contained until near the end of the month. They have huge tracts to burn out between now and thenhemingray wrote:Yeah - they call it "resource objectives".

Re: American Fire
Well, resource objectives must have been met - no smoke above the American fire area for 4 days now.

Re: American Fire
Foresthill Road is open to Robinson Flat and the 43 road is open from there down to the 96 road (Mosquito Ridge Rd). The 44 road is closed after the 33 road junction. It's pretty much the final fire perimeter.
This about sums the area up:
It's funny - the little road to the left of the sign was not visible at all before the fire. There are LOTS of formerly invisible roads visible off the main roads, many obviously dating to before the existing main roads.
Silly stuff: the Mumford Bar trailhead is "closed". The China Wall staging area is "closed". Saw a TNF LEO on Foresthill Road, no doubt patrolling both the closed fire perimeters and the barrycaded recreation sites, as well as the poor deer hunters who have been screwed by the closure(s).

On the sign here, I detect an air of regret and pleading not to trash the place. It made me feel sorry for the fed employees are being affected through no fault of their own.

Re: American Fire
I wonder what percentage of the people that approach that sign are just finding out the government is closed?
