Re: Help for a visitor, where to go?
Hi, thanks, Foresthill is closed for the season, can you give me some more detail about dutch flat or cisco grove, such as is there too much snow, is it open in winter, and exactly what trail to run and maybe the coordinated for where to start? Thanks. Sorry for the questions, but it's always a good...

Help for a visitor, where to go?
So I'll be up in Sacramento around New Years, and I'll have the family and the Rhino with me, where should I take them for a nice 1 day adventure? I like forests, so I'm guessing the foothills? Georgetown? But it looks like it's mostly too narrow. Foresthill? Closed for the season, I think? Mammoth ...

Re: Washington, Montana, Colorado & Moab Trip...
So let's say I drove up next Friday the 12th, and met you guys wherever you told me to for the Rubicon on Saturday morning, would that work? I'd have to drive back Monday morning, so I could have 2 full days of off roading up there... I figure the weather should still be nice, not too cold yet, no s...

Washington, Montana, Colorado & Moab Trip...
So this Summer I took my daughter on our annual summer road trip, towing our Rhino. We started off near Seattle (I live in Southern California, and my wife and my daughter met me in Seattle via airliner, and I towed the Rhino up) at an amazing place called Evan's Creek, then headed towards Montana, ...

Re: Well THESE are interesting...
Ok, so the tire moves forward, but the tread moves forward too? Does the tire sit on the tread? I assume it sits on rollers, and the tread is actually driven by the hub of the wheel? Might be interesting if they ever made a version for an ATV/SXS, such that you wouldn't have to go through so much ha...

Re: Rubicon - Last Snow Track Trip of the Season
That looks like great fun. Can't wait to try that trail sometime when I can use normal tires and not tracks.
But your extra winch line suggestion is a good one. I think I should have another 150' of line on board.

Re: New Shoes - Maxxis Bighorn
I used them the first time on Saturday up in the local mountains around Lake Arrowhead, it was a huge difference. Much softer ride, much grippier. 2 things I noted: 1. Turning in is softer, it doesn't respond as well to turning the wheel as the older (stiffer) tires did. I think the tread pattern, w...

Re: New Shoes - Maxxis Bighorn
Because it was like a "Midnight Black Special Edition" it came with some so-so Maxxis Bias Ply tires. The problem was they didn't grip very well in most places, and the ride was a bit harsh even though I have the shocks set to the softest rebound and compression settings. They were only 2-ply, so I'...

Re: Rubicon.. Am I nuts
Well, as I'm about to pack up the Rhino and head north towards you guys, I see there's another big storm supposed to hit NorCal on Wednesday... So I guess I'll try this whole thing again in June when my daughter is out of school. I plan on taking her on a road trip all the way to Canada, and bring t...

Re: New Shoes - Maxxis Bighorn
What tire pressures should I use on the Rhino? Go with the manufacturer rating of 9psi front and 10psi rear, or can I go lower?
For the record, I go quite slow, prefer rock crawling, only ever go about 20mph if it's really flat and smooth. Occasional sand, snow, mud.

Re: Rubicon - Snow Storm weekend
Ohhh I love snow. That looks like there's no way a Rhino could get in there without massive snow tracks.
Maybe I need to start saving for them. Just not enough snow down here to justify the cost, but after seeing that video, hmmmm...

Re: Boca/Stampede Riding
I would love one of those new super narrow RZR's that are legal on 50 inch trails, but alas, the Rhino was bought to bring wife and daughter along.
But I did just order some new Maxxis Bighorn tires for it based on the review posted here...
